Ping Best Practices

Ping Best Practices

The Ping is your new best friend, but needs cleaning and love as you mix your color and take care of business. Luckily, thousands of colorists have come before you and have offered up their top tips on cleaning The Ping to keep you mixing.

#1 - Developer last

Particularly helpful with powder bleach, this helps reduce splashing on the lid. You'll notice The Ping starts gently instead of blasting on at full speed, but this trick of saving developer last will help reduce cleaning on the lid.

#2 - Utilize the slow speed

When mixing liquids don't forget the slow speed option, which was built to stop spillage or splashing. Click the button on the nose three times and wait for the green lights to start up.

#3 - Don't overmix

This is a hard one as it comes down to habits, but this isn't just good for reducing cleanup but also reducing how much you spend on color. Scouts honor... Mixing smaller and more often is not only good for stopping the runeth over situation, it means you also limit lightener swelling and be mindful of how much is really needed.

#4 - Grab some accessories

If you pack your schedule or have a routine of saving the cleanup to the end of the day, make sure you have enough kit to keep you mixing. The X-Pack from ECOHEADS has more bowls, brushes and a blade to keep you mixing. You can also simply get some more blades if that's your hold up. Stock up and keep mixing.

#5 - Wipe, don't spray

When mixing right, there shouldn't be a ton of color in the crevices or the lid. If there is, make sure you are utilizing the spatula for The Ping to grab the last remnants of color to put it to use. Next, keep a stack of small, biodegradable towels by the color bar sink and use it to wipe the lid quickly and move to the next mix.

#6 - Grab a brush

The easiest way to clean the bowls and blades is a scrub brush that gets in between the spaces. This shouldn't be more than a few seconds and you can air dry and go home to relax with your friends and family!
